Humflection 2.0
Another unit draws to a close in Humanities, the good side is that it means more work done hence less to go. The bad news is the less work we have left the closer we are to our diploma's, trust me that's a scary thought. This unit in Humanities introduced me to many new idea's and answered some of the questions that I had carried over form the previous unit. See for me that's the problem with Humanities, a question is almost always answered with a question. Then in the odd instance that you do receive an answer it usually creates more questions. This creates my goal for my next unit in Humanities: I will try to answer at least 65% of the questions I have from last unit and I will answer at least 50% of the questions that I form in this unit. One of my other flaws that shone apparently this unit was my tendency to take leadership in situations. This was sometimes beneficial in the sense that I could then ensure that all of my assignments were completed and ready to go. However I realize reflecting back that it may have caused bitterness between group members and myself due to my sometimes having the inability to accept others ideas. My one major regret in the past unit would have to be the last team assignment that my group did. I attempted to step back and allow others to express their ideas as to what should be done for the assignment. I then was absent from class on the last day of preparation before the assignment was due. When I made contact with my group members over the weekend and they all assured me that the project would be ready to go, however when I arrived at school on Monday I was dismayed and disappointed to see that the ideas we had started to form as a group had not really been used and instead all of the work had been done by one group member, which is unfair to that group member and to the other members of the group. Reflecting back I believe that a possible improvement on the situation could include having more work complete sooner on in the week when time allowed for it, and possibly delegating assignments more, for instance making sure each group member wrote a single paragraph as opposed to just presenting ideas and then having a single group member edit it to ensure that the speech flowed. I hope to apply ideas like these to my groups in the future. So those are my two big goals for the next unit. Overall in this unit I was proud that I pushed myself to achieve a deeper understanding on some of my assignments, I hope to do that for all of my assignments this unit. So there it is, another unit down, one less to go until our diploma, the source of much fear and worry. Hopefully before then i can pull it together!

Merchant Of Venice- Pre Reading #1
I personally value friendship more than I value money because human company can bring happiness that money simply can not. You can clearly see different levels of happiness between people who hold these in different values. People who are willing to abandon everything and everyone simply for the wealth they find that when they reach the top they look down and realize that they have no one to share the feeling of accomplishment with. No matter how much money and how many gadgets/ toys you can buy, you can never truly buy the love and respect of another person. Mankind was not built to be alone. To quote the bible Genesis 2:18 "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." The value of money is simply a placeholder for a lack of human emotion. No matter what the protest, or the character no one is happier in the lack of company. This is a point clearly illustrated by the behaviour of a child. No child would ever choose a check over a play date with a new friend. Children seem to have a firmer, more pure view of the earth and it's key points. "A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five"- Groucho Marx. What this quote reinforces is that children see things in a different light and maybe we could learn something from them. Money is an important factor that can influence your happiness but when push comes to shove when you are alone you can really feel the sting.

The Unlucky Lesson
There once was a young girl who as so good at games of luck and chance that people would travel great distances simply to find out her secret. However every single person left disappointed, for her answer was always the same, "There is no answer, secret or formula to the blessing of good luck."
One day the young girl unknowingly beat a very rich official at a dice game of luck. Outraged the official ordered for the girl to be seized and tested for he must find out how she had beat him.
The girl underwent testing and questioning but she always answered the same, "There is no answer, secret or formula to the blessing of good luck."
After a while of being imprisoned the girl woke to find her door and every door from there on out, open. She then walked home to find that the greedy official who had so wanted her secret had died that night. When the villagers asked the girl how she had escaped she simply smiled and said, "There is no answer, secret or formula to the blessing of good luck."
