I personally value friendship more than I value money because human company can bring happiness that money simply can not. You can clearly see different levels of happiness between people who hold these in different values. People who are willing to abandon everything and everyone simply for the wealth they find that when they reach the top they look down and realize that they have no one to share the feeling of accomplishment with. No matter how much money and how many gadgets/ toys you can buy, you can never truly buy the love and respect of another person. Mankind was not built to be alone. To quote the bible Genesis 2:18 "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." The value of money is simply a placeholder for a lack of human emotion. No matter what the protest, or the character no one is happier in the lack of company. This is a point clearly illustrated by the behaviour of a child. No child would ever choose a check over a play date with a new friend. Children seem to have a firmer, more pure view of the earth and it's key points. "A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five"- Groucho Marx. What this quote reinforces is that children see things in a different light and maybe we could learn something from them. Money is an important factor that can influence your happiness but when push comes to shove when you are alone you can really feel the sting.
